"Himmel's best selling coupe features unique styling and spartan driving manners."
Ridge Racer V (Standard version)

The Himmel E.O. is a car manufactured by German automaker Himmel, which made its debut appearance in Ridge Racer V.

Design[]

The E.O. It is usually based on Porsche models. In Ridge Racer V, it is very similar to the 993 and 964 generations of the Porsche 911. Its Extra class version is very similar to the RUF CTR2 Sport, because of its spoiler and widened body. In the PSP and 3D titles, it looks a lot like a Spyker C8 Laviolette or C8 Aileron, with similarities to a Porsche Cayman (987), completely changing the original appearance of the RRV car, a notable detail is its large scoop located on the back. In RR6, RR7 and Vita, the base car is the same as in the PSP and 3D titles, but now with several aesthetic changes, including new headlights, taillights, wing and bumpers. The car only received an aesthetic facelift, but its base 3.6 boxer-6 engine was never changed.

Ridge Racer V[]

Grade Engine Top speed
Standard HM36DRST, 3.6L air-cooled SOHC flat-6 335 km/h
Extra HM36TEO, 3.6L air-cooled turbo SOHC flat-6 381 km/h
Extra Oval J58TEO, 5.8L air-cooled twin-turbo DOHC flat-6 438 km/h

* Extra and Extra Oval specs are fitted with a 6-speed transmission.

In Ridge Racer V, the E.O offers harsher handling compared to its rivals, and is considered the hard level car in handling grip. Because the car requires you to make turns in advance, due to its very narrow turning radius. It has a soft suspension that causes the car to shake very often in curves, making it even more difficult to drive. As an advantage, it is the car with the greatest acceleration and can develop high speeds after exiting curves very quickly. The main tip for mastering E.O is, in addition to knowing the track, braking the car and turning at the same time a little earlier in tight curves, as this will give it maximum grip on the asphalt, obtaining an agile exit from curves and giving give you a greater advantage over your opponents. In general, all E.O. It performs poorly with newcomers, but becomes a perfect car in the hands of a veteran.

Ridge Racer (PSP)[]

"This 6th generation E.O. inherits Himmel's traditional style and concept. Its horizontally-opposed "boxer" engine boasts both power and endurance, making this super luxury sports car one of the most desirable cars of all time."

The E.O. returns with a new look, now featuring a facelifted front and rear end. Among its Class 2 stablemates, this car has a considerably lower top speed, but compensates for this with excellent inertia drift and nitrous charging abilities.

Ridge Racer 7's iteration of the E.O. features no visual changes to its Ridge Racer 6 iteration (except for the fact that it has newer taillights and that it uses copper-colored wheels by default). However, its performance is significantly improved as it is now introduced in Class 2. Its lack of top speed is compensated with excellent nitrous performance and handling, offering balanced performance that's suitable for many courses and is therefore popular with inexperienced players. Himmel's legendary stability and grip makes the E.O. very easy to drive, and is thus a very good choice for those who do not have much experience with controlled drifting.

With the E.O.'s excellent Nitrous recharge rates and inertia drifting abilities, it is one of the few machines to put Reverse Charge nitrous to effective use.

A special Complete Machine variant is available once the player obtained 100 Manufacturer's Points with Himmel.

Trivia[]

  • The acronym "E.O." references the Greek god of dawn, Eos.
  • The E.O. has the shortest name of any car model in the series.
  • The RRV version of the car in the Standard Class has an unusual design in the position of the passenger side mirror, similar to the classic Japanese style.
  • The E.O. depicted in Ridge Racer (PSP) is actually in its sixth-generation model. This would mean that the model in Ridge Racer V would be the fifth-generation E.O., and the one featured in Ridge Racer 6 and 7 would be the seventh. Past E.O.'s were never seen throughout the series.
  • In Ridge Racer 7, if the Category 1 E.O. is combined with Druaga engine parts and Hi-Nitrous, and when used in the downhill section of the reverse layout of Downtown Rave City, it is the only car in the game that can exceed 500km/h (310 mph) with nitrous.
  • The fact that the car is always turbocharged in Ridge Racer (PSP) and onwards references the Porsche 911 Turbo models, and perhaps even the GT2 (and GT2 RS) models, as it is a high-performance, rear-wheel drive car.
  • If looked closely in its Class 6 variant in Ridge Racer (PSP) as well as its sequel, on the front and rear bumpers, it seems to have badging different from that of Ridge Racer 6 and onwards.
  • The E.O.'s engine in its Ridge Racer (PSP) Class 6 iteration is powered by a water-cooled engine.
    • Furthermore, the Class 6 E.O. features an air scoop just above its engine bay, similar to the Assoluto Promessa.
  • The E.O., along with the ร‚ge Prophetie and Abeille, are the only vehicles in the series to have working boost gauges on their tachometers.
