The Assoluto Bisonte is a sports car made by Italian car company Assoluto. It has appeared in many of the games in the Ridge Racer series.

It has appeared in the series since Ridge Racer Type 4 and was even the hero car of the game and its intro movie, sporting a unique silver and blue livery synonymous with Racing Team Solvalou.

It has then been a supporting car in the covers of both Ridge Racer 6 and 7.

In Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7, the Gaplus paint design is similar to the original Racing Team Solvalou skin from Ridge Racer Type 4.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4[]

This is 1 of the 4 cars featured in R4: Ridge Racer Type 4's intro movie, while hard at work competing in a Real Racing Roots '99 championship alongside the Lizard Detector, Age Solo Dirigeant and Terrazi Troop, it also stops to pick up Reiko Nagase, who broke one of her high-heels while walking to work. It features an aggressive-looking body, with its sharp front end complimented by a large front splitter and overall very angular design.

Styling-wise, the R4 rendition of the Bisonte is a mix of vehicles. The front end resembles that of the Ford GT40, albeit much more flat, and the side profile is based off of the Ferrari 288 GTO, particularly the side vents, the rear end has similar taillights to a Toyota MR2 (AW11).

Despite being the game's cover and intro car, the car is considered a mid-tier car, only given for the second heat if the player finishes second in both first heat races.

This variation also appears in Ridge Racer 64, representing and in colors of Racing Team Solvalou. The make and model are not listed in this game, instead the car is called "RT Solvalou" after its team.

The following is a translated transcription of the car featured in the Japanese Ridge Racer Type 4 - Namco Official Guide Book R4:

Thoroughbred of Assoluto with an acute-angled form.

The specs of this car can make it feel a little old, such as its OHV engine and the high height 1,200 mm, but on the contrary, it is a relatively easy car to drive, so it still has a potential for many teams. The Bisonte, which was also a race car with high tune-up, was the first commercial car to be released in the world used as a pace car for other race events. Its aged form is close to that of a general vehicle. It is also a car that can make history, but it depends on the team. In the end it can be said that its maximum speed will be close to 300 km/h, since it's a car which is supposed to race.

Ridge Racer (PSP)[]

"Assoluto has skillfully combined ruggedness and luxury on its flagship sports car, Bisonte. It is the favorite among fans of the super car generation."
In-game description

In the PSP titles, the Bisonte retains its low-slung profile but experienced a significant change in design. It now features a more rounded shape. The car's drift type is now Dynamic.

The new design is reminiscent of the 2002 Ford GT concept with elements of the Lamborghini Diablo and Lamborghini Gallardo and the Bisonte before it.

Ridge Racer 6 and 7[]

"The Bisonte, a pure racing machine from ASSOLUTO, is hand crafted using many custom materials- the reason for its high price tag. Few drivers are able to experience its amazing capabilities solely because of its price. A luxurious, but excellent, rare machine with precision handling."
Ridge Racer 7

The Bisonte undergoes another model change for the Ridge Racer 6, winding up with a differently illustrated body style.

This variant of the Bisonte resembles the 2005 Ford GT with headlights resembling those from the Saleen S7, while retaining elements from the Lamborghini Diablo and Lamborghini Gallardo, although the design is much more aerodynamic and round, and its length and width are much shorter.

Ridge Racer Accelerated[]

In Ridge Racer Accelerated, the Assoluto Bisonte comes in 3 variants:

Variant Class
Bisonte Type-S Class 2/5
Bisonte Type-Z Class 5
Bisonte Ver-R4 Class SP1

The Type-S Variant in Class 2/5, resembles the Bisonte found in R4: Ridge Racer Type 4.

BisonteTypeZ

The Assoluto Bisonte Type-Z getting ready to start a race, from Ridge Racer Accelerated.

The Type-Z variant in Class 5 resembles a 2002 Ford GT40 concept, but with a yellow paint with Sheonite and Warpman sponsors. The Type-Z variant also has hints of the Volkswagen W12 in the rear.

The Ver-R4 variant resembles the Bisonte from R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, which is based on the original Ford GT40 from the 1960s, it is found in Class SP1.

Ridge Racer (PlayStation Vita)[]

"Meaning "bison" in Italian, the Bisonte is one of Assoluto's signature machines and first debuted in 1998. During its 2008 10th-year anniversary, the "il colori" series was suddenly announced, a move that left a deep impression on spectators. After several years of silence, the new Bisargento, adding on the Italian word for "silver", made its debut. Assoluto's brand-new "silver bison" is now ready to inspire and amaze its rivals."
―In-game description

In Ridge Racer Vita, the machine was renamed to "Bisargento" (meaning: "silver bison"), referencing it's silver and blue RTS livery, and taking design cues from the original Bisonte seen in Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7, with minor facelifts such as the headlights and taillights. The stock design is unknown as it's equipped with a full set of ArkBird aeroparts. The Bisargento version is considered to be a new chapter from the car's original self.

It is very much the same car as it was from Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7, albeit renamed and with these minor cosmetic updates.

This specification appeared in Drift Spirits as one of the cars featured in a Ridge Racer collaboration event held in December 2018, with no major changes.

Ridge Racer Unbounded[]

The return of the original Bisonte. The silver color in the paint job is noticeably darker in this version, yet it still retains the original characteristics of Racing Team Solvalou's "hero car" from R4: Ridge Racer Type 4.

Performance[]

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4[]

The Bistonte's power comes courtesy of an overhead valve 3.0 liter V8 engine mated to a 5-speed transmission. Despite being the game's cover and intro car, the car is considered a mid-tier car, only given for the second heat if the player finishes second in both first heat races.

Ridge Racer (PSP)[]

Power comes from a V6 engine, initially mated to a 5-speed transmission but its Class 5 iteration of the car is fitted with a 6-speed transmission.

  • Made In: Italy
  • Drift Type: Standard
  • Engine: V6
  • Max RPM: 10000
  • Length: 169 inches
  • Width: 78 inches
  • Height: 43 inches
  • Max Speed: 149 mph

Ridge Racer 6[]

This rendition features a 3.0 liter double overhead cam V8 engine. It excels on the acceleration department, but hampered by a somewhat low top speed. At this iteration, it's a Standard-type car, meaning it has balanced drifting characteristics. For its Class 4 set-up, a turbocharger is added to the engine.

Specs:[]

Class Engine Top Speed
2 3.0 liter V8 DOHC 248 km/h
4 3.0 liter turbocharged V8 DOHC 313 km/h

Ridge Racer 7[]

Unlike its Ridge Racer 6 form, the Bisonte is now a Category 2 machine, putting it equal to the Fatalita. The only difference being the Bisonte has slightly slower top speed, but more agile through the corners, with the car notable for having excellent ultimate charge characteristics. It's a very popular car to drive due to its very good ultimate charge rate and its stability on the track.

1 326 km/h 333 km/h 338 km/h 339 km/h 335 km/h

Ridge Racer Accelerated[]

The Type-S variant can basically be described as an excellent all-rounder for its class, with high acceleration, normal top speed (for its class), excellent handling and better nitro speed, as well as a sharper drift radius but normal nitro duration.

The Type-Z's performance is mostly good, but it has a mediocre handling stat, which can spell serious trouble if it goes faster than 140 mph. This leaves the Type-Z at the mercy of the Danver Bayonet Type-Z, which has similar performance but with better handling.

The Ver-R4 variation of the Bisonte features a mild-like drift style, showcasing a moderately wide drifting radius. The Bisonte Ver-R4 is tailored specifically for top speed, acceleration and handling. It can also reach speeds up to 389 km/h (approx. 242 mph). With nitrous, it can hit 459 km/h (approx. 285mph).

Ridge Racer Vita[]

Although the Bisargento is mostly the same car as the Bisonte stylistically, it still retains the 3.0l V6 engine and six-speed gearbox as its predecessor.

Trivia[]

  • The R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 Bisonte was one of the pre-order bonus cars, along with the Kamata RC410 and the original Kamata Fiera (in it's F/A Racing livery) in Ridge Racer Unbounded under the name "Ridge Racer Type 4 Car".
  • Bisonte means "bison" in Italian and Portuguese. A bison is a bull-like animal, and is thus, is a reference to Lamborghini naming their cars after bulls in the world of bullfighting.
  • In Ridge Racer Vita, there is a special paint job for Bisargento that features Chihaya Kisaragi, the character from The iDOLM@STER. It can be downloaded, but is exclusive to the Japanese version of the game, and for Japanese PlayStation Network accounts.
  • In Ridge Racer 7, the Bisonte is only 1 km/h slower than the Fatalita (with the Solvalou engine tuning setup). The Bisonte also corners better than the Fatalita with the Astraroth tires and suspension setup (with its grip on HI).
  • In Ridge Racer Slipstream, the Fatalita was mistakenly referred to as the Bisonte (as it had used the Fatalita model), but was later fixed in a game update.
  • In Ridge Racer 6, the Bisonte is said to cost over $700,000 based on its description, due to the craftsmanship (the car was completely built and assembled by hand), lifetime warranty, quality and custom materials that were poured in towards the development of the car. This could possibly be a nod to high-end supercars, often those which are limited edition models, where owners have the freedom to configure the spec of their car to make it look bespoke, with regard to options such as custom colors/liveries, materials and other such features, sometimes even wheel design, engine, drivetrain and/or transmission options, all straight from the factory.
    • This is also a reference to the Kamata Fiera from the PSP games, as it was a special edition model that had a limited production run of 765 cars.
    • Also, in Ridge Racer 6 (and possibly even Ridge Racer 7), it is highly likely that the Bisonte depicted in the game is the "SS-R" variant, according to its in-game text.
  • The Ridge Racer 6 counterpart of the Bisonte appears in the intro movie of Ridge Racers 2, but is not playable in the game.
    • It also appears on the Japanese version's cover artwork.
  • The mention of the car being used as a safety car in the official guide book is a possible reference to the Ferrari Mondial used in the same role in the CART IndyCar series in 1988 and 1989.
  • Artwork of the Ridge Racer 6 version of the Bisonte features scissor doors. This makes it the one of two cars in the series, the other being the Fatalita, to feature scissor doors.
