Hello everyone! I'm ChartreuseGreen, and if you've been on this wiki lately, you might have seen some of my edits on a few pages here. As a fan of the Ridge Racer games since my childhood, I'm excited to be contributing as much information as I can regarding the entire Ridge Racer series!
However, a big thing that I see the wiki struggling with currently is consistency in both content and design. From subjective, overly long descriptions to course map screenshots that come in way too many shapes and sizes, I feel that we should start setting some standards as to what the wiki's content should look like.
To start, I've made a new infobox template for courses, and I'm currently in the process of adding these infoboxes to the course pages. As of the writing of this post, I've added new infoboxes for the RRR, Rage, and two of the R4 courses.
In terms of aesthetics, I've noticed the R4 color scheme is in full effect, but the current logo of the wiki is based on the 1993 Ridge Racer logo. To this, I offer an alternative logo design, based on the Real Racing Roots '99 logo:
And on the topic of the R4 aesthetic, I've also made a mockup of a possible template that can be used for all course pages, which is inspired by the R4 "Course Data" screen:
I've actually hand-traced the shapes for every known Ridge Racer course so far (even RR64's Renegades and the two courses I could find from Draw & Drift), and I'd like to know if people would want to have this map style for the course pages. Additional course information could even be inserted in the image itself, if desired.
As with any major changes in anything, I'm open to suggestions and comments about these plans that I have. At the end of the day, I want the readers of the wiki to enjoy their time here, and I hope these new designs that I'm proposing can do just that.
That's it for this post, I guess. See y'all around!
